Often you don't even need to be present when the pods arrive or are picked up. Pods are good for any kind of move, but they are ideal for moves in which there will be more than a few days' lag between moving out of your old home and into your new home. For instance, if you sell your previous house before you close on a new house, you may need to stay in a hotel or a temporary rental for a month or two while you wait to be able to move into your new house. If you go through a regular moving company, you will have to have your belongings delivered to storage (with all the wear and tear of moving them off the truck and into the storage unit), then you will have to have them loaded onto a new truck to be brought to your new house. Basically, you run all the risks of moving twice, and you pay for the privilege twice.
